My name is Mrs. Flores. I have been teaching for 9 years. I've taught Kinder, 1st, 2nd and 4th grade. This year will be my fourth year here at Columbia and I am proud to be an astronaut. I grew up here in California not too far from Lancaster. I graduated from Cal State Northridge and earned my teaching credential there as well. After graduation, I move to Las Veagas and taught there for six years. A few years ago I moved back to California to be closer to family and am happy to be back.

Teaching is a job that requires a lot, but it also gives you back so much more. I am happy to say that I love watching my students learn, meeting their families, and working as a team to help students reach their maximum potential.

Volunteering in the Classroom

If you are interested in volunteering, we would feel honored to have you help in our class. There are a variety of ways in which you can help:

  • At home volunteer- work on preparing materials at home
  • Classroom volunteer- work in the classroom (reading with kids, preping materials, making copies)
  • Field Trip chaperones- help by attending a class field trip
Our district requires that parents who will be helping on a regular basis complete district volunteer paperwork and get fingerprint clearance.

In our classroom, homework is intended to help students practice the skills we learned that day and review previously learned skills. Homework will be assigned on a daily basis, Monday-Thursday. Students will recieve a spelling activity and a math sheet to complete each night. Homework is due the next day. Please help your child learn as much as possible by establishing a homework routine.
